The aim with Parfett University is to form a non-profit enterprise in the Whitechapel area of East London due to be established in late April 2007.
A program will be launched soon.
The foundation of Parfett University is very much inspired by international organizations like the 16 Beaver Group in New York, the Manoa University in Vienna, the Free University in Copenhagen and the UNITEDNATIONPLAZA which took place in Berlin.
These are all independent and alternative organizations that understand the importance of establishing spaces where criticism and discussion can happen freely and without the burden and censorship of costs and profit.
The 1990s saw the era of independent artist run spaces. In the late 00s (The Noughties) one has seen a new era of emerging non-profit spaces which encourages the establishment of agoras, or general communities in the attempt to defy the censorship of the market that has has a strong impact on for instance the making of corporate Universities.
